Wow, I can’t believe it has been a year since the very first Vegan Curious event in November 2018. The turnout was great and since then we have had 4 events which included the 1st annual Vegan Food & Wine Experience that took place in June with special guest Tabitha Brown – more on the event in a later blog post:). So, here we are at the first anniversary of Vegan Curious Events and I am truly grateful and excited to host the anniversary event on November 16, 2019, 11am – 1pm at At My Sphere in downtown Oakland. As you know, each of our events has a theme and this time it’s all about making veganizing made simple, along with de-stressing for the holidays, and what quick snacks to carry with as you run errands over the next few months.
First, let me say that the venue is beautiful and has a very calming atmosphere hence their name At My Sphere. Check out the entryway when you arrive.
Also, this time we are having a live cooking demonstration where a vegan and non-vegan version of the same dish will be prepared. The vegan version will be prepared by Tamiko Garner, the Plant Based Vegan Sistah and the non-vegan version by Stephanie Perry of Perry’s Catering. Are you wondering what we will prepare? It will be crab cakes! For those who attended the June Vegan Food & Wine Experience may remember the vegan crab cakes on the menu, so here’s your chance to get the recipe and watch it cooked in living color.
How many of you usually find the holidays to be a stressful time? Well, come find out a few techniques to de-stress and go through holiday shopping and meal prepping in a calm state of mind as Suzannah Cox of Elev8e Wellness Center gives us some tips and a brief yoga demo.
The menu will be on point as well with a few holiday favorites such as macaroni & cheese with a vegan version named ‘your auntie’s mac & cheese’ at the most recent Vegan Mac Down contest in August. Remember, there is a vegan version and non-vegan version of each item so prep your taste buds to see how well you can determine which is the vegan version. Now, I will say that last year guests were stumped with the vegan sweet potato pie as they thought it was the non-vegan version – IJS:)!
So, if you are vegan curious be sure to join in the fun and get inspired to adopt a
